Don't Let 'Em "NAMBUSH" Congress
Hundreds of members of the Big Business group National Association of Manufacturers are in Washington, DC this week. Topping their to-do list is lobbying Congress to overturn OSHA's ergonomics standard.
Anti-worker Senators and representatives are pushing Congress to overturn the ergonomics standard -- which could prevent more than 1.6 million repetitive strain injuries a year -- under the terms of the Congressional Review Act, often called the "nuclear bomb" of deregulation because its use would prevent OSHA from setting a strong standard to protect workers from ergonomic hazards without congressional permission.
But working families can fight back this week by flooding Capitol Hill with e-mails, phone calls and letters uring Congress to support the standard. To send an e-mail or learn more about the fight, visit www.aflcio.org/safety.
