Amtrak Adds Another Central Valley Train

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Amtrak may be facing serious ridership problems elsewhere, but not in California's Central Valley. Next Monday it will add a second round trip train linking Sacramento and Bakersfield, reports the San Jose Business Journal.

Lodi will become a regular stop on the Sacramento-to-Bakersfield line, for the new train as well as the old.

The train is slated to chug out of Bakersfield at 7:15 a.m. Monday and arrive in Sacrament a half hour after noon. Celebrations are planned at major points along the line.

Bakersfield already is linked to Oakland by four round trip trains.

All six of the valley trains are dubbed "The San Joaquins."
