Rail Funding Bill Delayed

A scheduled mark-up by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee of legislation to authorize some $59 billion for Amtrak, high-speed rail and freight rail infrastructure projects was postponed April 24.

Committee Chairman Don Young (R-Alaska), said he decided to delay consideration of the legislation in order to continue negotiations with committee Democrats over some outstanding issues. "I want to make it clear that I plan to move both of those bills at our next full committee markup," Young said without providing a date.
