SECRETARY-TREASURERS

RE: SECRETARY-TREASURER SEMINARS IN SPOKANE, WASHINGTON AND BLOOMINGTON, MINNESOTA. IF YOU ARE NO LONGER THE LODGE SECRETARY-TREASURER, PLEASE FORWARD THIS IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THE NEW LODGE SECRETARY-TREASURER.

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

The Grand Lodge Secretary-Treasurer's Department has scheduled educational seminars to be held in the cities of Spokane, Washington and Bloomington, Minnesota. Each of these seminars will be a day-and-a-half in length and will focus on reviewing the duties of the office of Local Lodge Secretary-Treasurer and introducing the new local lodge audit program for use on your home computer. Grand Lodge has modified the software program "Quicken" to enable you to produce computer generated quarterly audit reports as well as the information necessary to complete U.S. Department of Labor Form LM-4. If you currently have a version of the Quicken program on your computer, you should review the tutorial before attending either of these seminars so that the material presented at the seminar will be somewhat familiar.

The first seminar will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 29 and 30, 2000 at the Doubletree Spokane Valley, N. 1100 Sullivan Rd., Spokane, WA 99037. The seminar will commence on Friday at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude on Saturday by noon. Registration will be held on Friday from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. during which a continental breakfast will be served. Lunch will be furnished on Friday afternoon by the Brotherhood at no cost to you, however, you or your lodge will be expected to assume any costs involved in transportation to and from the seminar as well as lodging if desired. If you need to make hotel reservations, we have reserved a block of rooms for the evenings of September 28 and 29, 2000, at a rate of $69.00 plus tax for single or double occupancy. You must make your reservations before August 27, 2000, to be guaranteed accommodations at this rate. When making your reservations, you must indicate that you are with the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes group. The toll-free number for making reservations is 800-222-8733. The direct number to the hotel is 509-924-9000.

An informal reception has been scheduled for Friday evening for all officers participating in the seminar. So that we may obtain an accurate count of those who will be present and make the necessary arrangements for the luncheon and seminar, it is necessary that you complete the "Attendance Notification Form" which is enclosed and return it to Grand Lodge on or before September 1, 2000. Upon receipt of the form, Grand Lodge will provide you with additional information concerning the seminar.
