The BMWE suffered yet another tragic loss
on March 2, 2000 when Arthur A. Singletary was fatally injured after
being struck by a piece of on-track equipment in Ocala, Florida.
Singletary was the foreman of CSXT Surfacing Gang 5J86 and a member of
BMWE's Allied Eastern Federation. He was 51 years old with 29 years of
railroad service in the maintenance of way department at the time of
his death.
Singletary had an exemplary safety record over his 29 years of
service and, according to his co-workers and CSXT management, was
deeply committed to assuring the safety of himself and his crew. BMWE
members nationwide share the grief and sorrow of the Singletary
family.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragedy is
ongoing. |
