Remembering Brother John Eric Youmans

Published: Dec 5 2018 3:16PM

We have tragically lost another Brother to a terrible workplace accident.

Brother John Eric Youmans, 34, of Early Branch, S.C., was hit and killed by a train Friday while welding under watchman lookout. He was a 10-year employee of CSX railroad and a member of BMWED Allied Federation Lodge 2167. Most importantly, he was dedicated and loving father, husband, son and uncle.

Those who worked with Brother Youmans for the last decade truly loved him like a brother. There are many stories of his kindness and generosity. He was there when you had a flat on Sunday morning on the way to church; he was beside you when you needed a helping hand at work. His smile was infectious, and you cannot find a person on the railroad that has nothing but the most genuine respect and admiration for him.

We are deeply saddened. We are sad that this continues to happen. We are devastated for his wife, Kelly, his children, Hayden, Connor and Alexis, his parents and friends. Brother John Eric Youmans, you will be immensely missed.
