BMWED Brothers Roger Sanchez, Vice President of the South Region, Texas Legislative Director Rusty Kubena and Texas Assistant Legislative Director Daniele Morehead lobbied at the state capitol in Austin for a Crossing Bill in the House Transportation committee.
The legislation would provide added protections to our members while hy-railing through road crossings, most notably providing on-track equipment the same authority provided to trains by mandating motorists yield the right of way at all road crossings.
Texas State Representative Matt Krause sponsored the crossing legislation on behalf of the Brotherhood.
To date, the BMWED has helped pass crossing bills in 29 states. We currently have legislation active in seven states.
