RE: RESCHEDULING OF FOUNDING EMPLOYER SYSTEM CONVENTIONS BEGINNING OCTOBER 25, 2021
Brothers and Sisters:
I am writing to advise that the Founding Employer System Conventions will be rescheduled to begin no sooner than October 25, 2021.
As many of you are aware, on Friday, August 6, 2021, a minority of the BMWED National Division Officers and a few full-time General Chairpersons filed a lawsuit against the majority of BMWED National Division Officers and the Union regarding the Founding Employer System Conventions. On Friday, August 13, 2021, we agreed to reschedule conducting the Founding Employer System Conventions to begin October 25, 2021 and continuing thereafter. The majority of BMWED National Division Officers were agreeable to this new timeline to allow the Local Lodges more time to schedule and conduct their respective Delegate Elections. One of the reasons for being agreeable to the new timeline was due the significant confusion caused by various full-time System Officers allegedly engaging in activities that were intended to delay and/or prohibit the timely scheduling of the Delegate Elections. Another reason the majority of BMWED National Division Officers were agreeable to the new schedule was to allow the Legal System to sort through the facts at hand.
Therefore, Local Lodges should continue to schedule their special meetings and elect Delegates to attend the Founding Employer System Conventions that will begin October 25, 2021, unless and until advised otherwise by the BMWED National Division President. National Division is working to verify the new dates and locations as necessary for the Founding Employer System Conventions and will provide this information as soon as it becomes available. Nevertheless, your patience is appreciated, and I anticipate the convening of the founding Employer System Conventions beginning on October 25, 2021 and continuing thereafter, where the attending Delegates will gather to debate and decide how they want their respective Employer System Federations to be structured for the many decades to come.
