Winners of the BMWED/LECMPA/Hoffa Teamster Scholarships Announced

This past academic year was a banner one for BMWED members and students. After receiving a record 230 applications from members and/or their dependents, it was clear that our Brotherhood is replete with remarkable students. On behalf of the entirety of our membership, we are proud to announce the winners of the 2021/2022 BMWED, LECMPA and James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarships.

First, the winners of the Teamsters’ JRHMS $10,000 scholarship:
- Mason Benham, son of BMWED Burlington System Division Local 1316 Brother Terry Benham.
- Melina Alamo, daughter of BMWED Unified System Division Local 968 Brother Vincente Alamo.

The four winners of the $4,000 BMWED Scholarship are:
- Melina Alamo (AGAIN), daughter of USD Local 968 Brother Vincente Alamo, Melina attends the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Marlene White, daughter of David White, Local 626, attends Buena Vista University, Storm Lake, Iowa.
- Callum Ward, stepson of Travis Hite, Local 899, attends University of Nebraska-Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska.
- Triniti Knowles, daughter of William Washam, Local 2402, attends North Central Missouri College, Trenton, Missouri.

The two winners of the Locomotive Engineers and Conductors Mutual Protective Association $2,500 scholarships are:
- Dayne Barbie, Carroll College, Helena, Montana.
- Damian Cejka, University of Wisconsin-Superior, Superior, Wisconsin.

It is with great pride and admiration that we present these incredible and deserving students with this year’s scholarships. We know you will succeed in your academic endeavors and continue to promote the BMWED and all of Organized Labor in the future.
