THE TIME TO PROTECT RAILROAD WORKERS IS NOW:

CALL AND EMAIL YOUR CONGRESSPERSON AND SENATOR AND TELL THEM TO PASS THE ADDITION OF PAID SICK LEAVE TO ANY LEGISLATION AVERTING A RAIL STRIKE

The House will be taking up the bill House Joint (HJ) Resolution 100 today, which contains provisions that will settle the dispute between the railroads and the Railroad Workers that have not yet ratified agreements.  This bill is expected to become legislation that will result in the tentative agreements and side letters as well as other rail carrier specific agreements to become effective as if ratified by the Membership.  But it gets better.

The House will also be taking up a resolution that would add 7 paid sick days per year for all Railroad Workers.  In other words, House will be voting to also provide 7 paid sick days per year for all Railroad Workers today and it is likely the House will pass this and it will then go before a vote in the Senate.  We need 60 votes in the Senate to pass a bill containing paid sick days for all Railroad Workers.  We need bipartisan support from Republicans and Democrats in the Senate.  We need you, your family members, your friends, your neighbors, your pastor and members of your church, your local businesses – EVERYONE YOU KNOW -  to reach out to your Senators and Congressional Representatives RIGHT NOW and tell them to stand with Railroad Workers and for the security of our rail infrastructure supply chain by passing the concurrent resolution to HJ Resolution 100. Tell them to pass paid sick leave for Railroad Workers!
