On November 3rd, 2018 we lost a beloved Brother in the line of duty. Brother Omar Solis was a member of BMWED ICGF Local Lodge 0469.

Brother Solis will be laid to rest today in Joliet, Illinois. He passed Saturday after a work site explosion on Metra Railroad on the north side of Chicago. Brother Solis was just 37 years old.

Our CAT organizers met with Brother Omar in August during a visit to Metra. It was readily evident that Omar had a reputation as a hard worker and as an immensely proud father and husband. His co-workers had nothing but the highest praise for him. His loss is heavy and will be felt forever.

Our jobs can be dangerous, sometimes tragically so. It is at moments like this that we stop to grieve and to lean on each other for support, safety and kindness. Our deepest sympathies go out to Brother Solis' wife, Sandy, his children, Omar and Brian, and his parents, siblings, loved ones and friends.

Brother Omar Solis, you will be missed.
